Ganderbal, September 9: Police in Gund Ganderbal have nabbed two people who said they were photographers for trying to get money from people.
Police Station Gund got a letter from Gulzar Ahmed Kasana, who lives in Surfraw Gund. In the letter, he said that two unknown people claiming to be journalists came to his home in Surfraw and asked him for a bribe of Rs 5,000 because he is building a house there. They took Rs 500 from him in cash and told him to pay the other Rs 4500 in two days. Also, they told the victim that if he didn’t pay the amount, they would take apart his house.
A group of police led by PSI Jameel Ahmad of PS Gund and supervised by SDPO Kangan quickly arrested the two people who said they were journalists. Sohail Maqbool, who lives in Bamiluna Kangan, and Kaiser Farooq, who lives in Cheerwan Kangan, have been named.
People in the general area of Gund complained that some people on scootys with cell phones and cameras were blackmailing people. Many people have gone to the police station and said that the two had also blackmailed them.
So, a case has been opened at PS Gund under the relevant parts of law, and more research has begun.
