On Friday night, the police said that they had detained a scammer who had been defrauding students under the guise of being admitted to an MBBS programme in Iran.

The Srinagar police sent a few tweets on their social media account in which it stated: “A fraudster Syed Abas Shah S/o Syed Yousuf Shah R/o wahabpora Budgam conducting educational consulting ‘Dr Minds’ at parraypora in lieu of money. “FIR no. 65/2023 in sadder PS (sic) u/sections 468,420 of IPC.”

“After arriving in Tehran and staying there for months without receiving an admission even after paying this Fraudster in lakhs, students learned about cheating and forgery. The public is urged not to fall for such scam artists operating consulting firms and defrauding students, job seekers, etc., according to the tweets.
