 Srinagar, the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics-SCERT hosted a divisional level competition under the National Science Seminar on Millets – a Super Food or a Diet Fad, in which 20 kids from various schools participated.

The competition was supported by the National Council of Science Museum, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and it was run under the direction of Director, SCERT-JK Prof. Parishat Singh Manhas.

For his outstanding achievement, Hussain Malik of HSS Humhama in Budgam’s 10th grade won the top award.

Mir Arusha Iqbal, a 10th-grader from HSS Zainapora Shopian, came in second, followed by Zaeem Masoodi, a 9th-grader from GD Goenka Public School Srinagar, Nouman Muzafar, a 9th-grader from HSS DH Pora Kulgam, Munaza Tahir, a 10th-grader from HS Akhran Kulgam, who came in fourth

Within the wider theme of millets, which was on the menu during the G20 Summit hosted by India, participants discussed a variety of subjects, including their nutritional worth, environmental effect, cultural importance, and potential as a solution to issues with food security.

Distinguished judges from SCERT-KD, including Dr. Saima Qadir, Asima Farooq Shah, and Saima Aijaz, Senior Academic Officers, reviewed the presentations with unbiased evaluations.

The Divisional level coordinator, Dr. Sajad Hussain Mir, expressed appreciation to the participants for devoting their time and effort to making NSS-2023 a huge success.

The outstanding contribution made by all participants in making NSS-2023 a memorable occasion was acknowledged by Mohd Sultan Khan, Head, Academic Unit-II SCERT-KD.

Academic Officer for the Department of ESM Bilquees Fatima offered her congratulations to the participants on their outstanding performance.

Syed Hamid presided over the tournament, while Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Dar, I/c Joint Director, SCERT-KD, thanked the competitors and their escorting instructors for their support and dedication to spreading information about millets.
