Government workers held a protest in Delhi to ask for the old pension plan to be brought back

Jammu: On Saturday, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar presided over a meeting of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and other authorities to discuss the status of the PMAY Urban and Rural, Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, and other connected matters.

In a statement released here, an official spokeswoman said that after analysing the resolution of pension cases, the director general of the Social Welfare Department informed the divisional commissioner of the situation on a district-by-district basis.

The divisional commissioner took serious notice of the backlog and gave the DCs two days to resolve all outstanding cases.

The allocation of land to the landless under PMAY-G and Urban was also evaluated by him.

The number of claims that were accepted and those that were refused following verification was disclosed by the DCs.

The divisional commissioner gave the DCs instructions to finish allotments in a certain amount of time.

He also went through the districts’ plans for organising Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.

The divisional commissioner was informed by the director of school education in Jammu that a number of events, including quiz, painting, debate, and essay writing contests, had been planned across all districts.

He also mentioned the Shanti Rally, which started in Poonch and finished its journey across the Jammu division’s districts today by arriving in Jammu.

It was disclosed that both kids and instructors took part in the demonstration.

The divisional commissioner advised setting up control centres in each district and instructed the DCs to send pictures of activity to the site.

The meeting was attended by the Director of School Education, Ashok Sharma, the Director General of the Social Welfare Department, Vivek Sharma, the Additional Commissioner for Jammu, Pankaj Katoch, the Joint Director for Rural Development, Avleen Kour, the Deputy Director for Planning, Munish Dutta, the Assistant Commissioner for Central, Angrej Singh, and other relevant officers. Deputy Commissioners and officers from line departments also participated via video conferencing.
