SKUAST-K launches a management skill program in agripreneurship

December 15, Srinagar: At the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Wadura campus, a week-long Existing-Management Development Programme (E-MDP) on agri-preneurship development got underway.

According to a statement, the Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises is sponsoring the training, “Agripreneurship Development Through Effective Value Chain Management of Agricultural Commodities,” which is being conducted by SKUAST-K’s Division of Agricultural Economics & Statistics, Faculty of Agriculture, in partnership with Govt. Degree College, Sopore.

Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, dean of the faculty of agriculture, provided a thorough explanation of the program and updated the attendees on the many success stories involving the creation of agro-based businesses. She emphasized that in order for the university to assist the students in starting new businesses, they need to come up with fresh ideas.

Professor Bilal A. Bhat, Head of the Division of Agri Economics and Statistics at the Faculty of Agriculture, said that the program will introduce students to a wider range of topics related to the growth of agripreneurship.

Dr. Sajad A. Saraf, the coordinator of the program, spoke about the value of agriculture and related industries as well as the potential for generating revenue and jobs via agribusiness operations. According to him, the goal of providing this training is to cultivate an environment that supports good marketing practices and advances the interests of both farmers and consumers by developing a human resource base that is highly skilled.
