Certificates were given out to the attendees of the two-day seminar and workshop held under the NBHM’s auspices in the auditorium D C office complex in Reasi on August 29.

In his presentation to the attendees, CAO Reasi Harbans Singh emphasised the need of educating people about the commercial production of honey and its byproducts using modern scientific methods of bee keeping. He said, “Because of the presence of diverse bee flora, the Reasi district possesses huge potential for development of Bee Keeping as an additional source of income for the farming community.”

In addition, he called on the younger generation to step up and embrace the most recent technology innovations in agriculture to make farming a viable source of income.

The farmers were also given specifics on the subsidies available to them in order to encourage them to start beekeeping. SKUAST J entomology professor Devinder Sharma gave a lengthy presentation on the topic of the technologies used in the scientific reintroduction of honey bees.

The importance of the honey bee in increasing fruit yield was discussed by CHO Reasi and Brij Vallab Gupta.

Officials from the banking sector emphasised the importance of banks in fostering entrepreneurial and job creation prospects.
