Kupwara: The residents of Chota Braripora in Handwara Sub District have expressed resentment against Roads and Buildings department for allegedly failing to macadamise their road thus putting them to a lot of hardships.

The locals said that while their road had undergone essential expansion and other development, macadamization had not yet been completed.

They said that the construction on both sides of the road and the filling of the road cause a lot of dust to blow throughout the day, making life difficult for them.

A resident told Greater Kashmir, “We can’t understand why macadamization hasn’t been done yet if more than 2.5 crore rupees were approved for this road.”

“There is so much dust on this road that we can’t even walk. The majority of the suffering falls on the elderly and students in our community. Every morning, students depart in pristine uniforms and come back in dirty ones. Similar difficulties with COPD are experienced by elderly people, he said.

Residents have appealed concerned authorities to macadamise their road so that the hardships being faced by them may end.

Farooq Ahmad Shah, executive engineer for roads and buildings in the Handwara Division, said that a different project was used to enlarge the road. He promised that the road will be macadamized in a matter of days.
