Social Welfare officer Subhash Kotwal presided over the event, with DDC Chairman Doda Dhananter Singh as the main guest, along with ADC Bhaderwah Dilmir Chowdhary and SP Vinod Sharma.

Drug abuse and illicit trafficking continue to pose a significant threat to individuals, families, and communities worldwide, and rural and hilly areas like Doda district are not immune to this scourge. This is the primary goal of the programme.

“The stigma and discrimination associated with drug use can further harm people’s physical and mental health and prevent them from seeking help,” said Dilmir Chowdhary, ADC of Bhaderwah.

According to Bhaderwah’s Superintendent of Police Vinod Sharma, “a holistic approach is a must” for raising awareness about drug misuse among the general public, and “Nasha Mukt Bharat” can only be achieved if people from all walks of life work together to combat the problem.

Everywhere in the globe, people are at risk from the devastating effects of drug usage and illegal trafficking. World Drug Day, also known as the International Day against Drug addiction and Illicit Trafficking, is observed annually on June 26 in response to this problem with the goal of increasing global action and collaboration to end drug addiction.

This year’s theme, “People First: stop stigma and Discrimination, strengthen Prevention,” emphasises the need to treat drug users with dignity and compassion.
