Saturday, June 24th, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Ganderbal hosted a sporting event for the youth of the local tribal communities in Kangan.
Tribal kids from the Kangan area of Ganderbal district attended the event, which took place at the Hariganiwan Higher Secondary Ground.
The event’s principal guest was the Director of Youth Services and Sports, Subhash Chander Chibber; other notable attendees were the Deputy District Commissioner (DDC) for the region, Hariganiwan Noorani Jara, and the District Youth Services and Sports officer for the area, Ganderbal Shafqat Ahmed.
In addition to singing competitions, there were also contests in traditional dances like the Tug of War. Both boys and girls participated in cultural events.
Nearly a hundred young people from various ethnic groups enthusiastically took part in these competitions and cultural events. Subash C. Chhibber, the UT’s director of youth services and sports, reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to finding and developing local athletes. He noted that the department has made promoting athletes a key focus.
