The Srinagar-based Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K) and the Chandigarh, India-based Neophal Private Limited have agreed to work together.

According to a statement released by SKUAST-K, the MoU was signed by Prof. M. A. A. Siddiqui, acting vice chancellor, and Prof. H. R. Naik, director of SKUAST-K’s planning and monitoring.

He praised Neophal Private Limited for signing an MoU with a top institution in the nation and pressed for the company to go through with practical execution of the project in order to help the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the next years, the business plans to build and begin commercially operating several Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storages around J&K with a combined capacity of roughly 200,000 metric tonnes.

The academic and scientific expertise of SKUAST-K would be invaluable in pinpointing the optimal locations for CA storefronts, increasing their usefulness to local farmers and producers.

As an added bonus, SKUAST- K and Neophal Private Limited will collaborate on CA technology development depending on industry needs.
