29 November, Jammu: Director General of Police J&K R. R. Swain has approved meritorious scholarships worth Rs 19.62 lakh for 290 wards of active police officers in an effort to enhance their spirits and foster a spirit of competition.
Based on a PHQ directive, 31 wards of active police officers have been granted a meritorious scholarship of Rs. 3,15,000 for achieving 80% or more in the graduation/post-graduation annual test for the 2022–2023 academic year. A ward has been awarded Rs 18000 for earning 94.5% in the MBA, while 12 wards have been awarded Rs 12,000 apiece for qualifying with more than 80% in various post-graduation exams. Correspondingly, eighteen wards have been approved to get an additional rupee of eight thousand five hundred apiece for achieving more than eighty percent in various graduation exams.
Through another PHQ Order, 259 wards of active police officers have been granted meritorious scholarships of rupees 16,47,000 for achieving over 80% in the yearly 12th class exams for the 2022–2023 academic year. 78 wards of serving police officers who received 90% or higher in the class 12 annual examination during the 2022–2023 academic year have been sanctioned rupees 7200 each, while 181 wards who received 80%–90% in the annual examination have been sanctioned rupees 6000 each.
From the Central Police Welfare Fund, the meritorious scholarship amount is authorized.
Scholarships for the offspring of active, retired, or dead police officers or SPOs who have shown remarkable performance in various courses are among the merit-based programs offered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Outstanding performance in technical courses and college or university courses also earns students special rewards. Youngsters who succeed in competitive examinations like UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR, and others are also awarded rewards.
