Kashmir, July 23: Police have detained 4 drug dealers in Bandipora, Baramulla, and Handwara as part of ongoing operations to rid society of the drug problem while also recovering illegal substances from their hands.

An individual selling drugs on a motorbike was apprehended by a PS Hajin police team at a checkpoint set up at Gundibon Hajin. He has been recognised as Nadikhai inhabitant Ishfaq Nabi Teli. 240 grammes of charas were discovered in his possession during the search. He has been taken to the police station and is being held there. In addition, a motorbike used in a crime has also been taken.

In the meanwhile, a police team from PS Chandoosa stopped a car with the licence plate JK01AQ-6274 being driven by Khansahib Budgam resident Irfan Ahmad Khan at a checkpoint set up near Muqam Chandoosa. Officers were able to seize 13 bottles of illegal alcohol and 8 grammes of heroin from his possession throughout the course of the search. He has been taken into custody, and the car that was used to do the crime has also been taken.

Additionally, two drug dealers from Drungsoo Qalamabad, Zakir Hussain Malik and Ishfaq Ahmad Lone, were detained by a police team from Police Station Qalamabad at a roadblock set up near Audoora Bridge. 150 grammes of Charas were found in their possession during the search.

As a result, cases under the applicable legal provisions have been filed at the appropriate police stations, and further investigations have begun.
