On Sunday in the hamlet of Kavbati in the Kastigarh district of Bhaderwah, a villager was attacked by a wild bear and suffered significant injuries as a result.

Jaswinder Singh, a 26-year-old resident of Kavbati Block in Kastigarh, was hospitalised after being attacked by a wild bear in his hamlet, according to the police.

SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom confirmed the event and said that, according to sources, Jaswinder Singh was attacked by a bear this morning while he was walking to a nearby woodland area. Jaswinder quickly cried out for assistance, raising the alarm. As a result, the townspeople and members of his family rushed to save him from the bear.

“Villagers brought the wounded patients to GMC Doda for treatment right away. The victim was fortunate in that he was assaulted close to his home and received prompt assistance, the SSP said, noting that he is now receiving care at GMC Doda and is reportedly in stable condition.

The SSP said that the Wild Life Department had previously been notified and asked to catch the animal.

A leopard that was wandering the region has been caught in the Kastigarh area, according to SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom.
