Authorities found one death in Kargil on Saturday night as a large search is being conducted for four other people who went missing after the car they were riding in was involved in an accident close to Kaksar, according to authorities.
According to an official, the driver of a car with the licence plate JK16B-2015 travelling from Drass to Kargil lost control of the car and it subsequently fell into a river.
“Police, NDRF, and other rescue teams arrived at the accident scene as soon as the news broke,” he said.
Additionally, one person’s corpse was pulled from the water, and rescue efforts were in progress, the official said, adding that police had already recorded the incident and were conducting further inquiry.
