December 12: Two absconders who had been eluding capture for the previous fourteen years have been apprehended by Awantipora police.
The Court of JMIC Pampore issued non-bailable warrants under section 512 CrPC on November 23 for two absconders: Balvinder Kumar Bhagat, a resident of Chalyari Samba, who was involved in case FIR No. 186/1996 under section 279, 304-A RPC of police station Awantipora, and Jagjeet Singh, a resident of Simbal Camp Jammu, who was involved in case FIR No. 24/1998 U/S 279, 304-A RPC of police station Awantipora. The warrants were issued against the two absconders.
As a result, the accused were taken into custody from the Jammu district, and a special squad led by SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali was formed. The apprehended suspects were then brought before the court.
Additionally, a warrant against Davinder Singh, a resident of Digiana, Jammu, was dismissed in connection with case FIR No. 63/1998 under Section 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora, upon the accused’s death and the provision of a death certificate by the police station.
It is important to note that the Awantipora Police apprehended four absconders who were eluding their capture in various criminal cases this year.
