On September 18 in New Delhi, Hari Krishen Langoo, Chief Secretary and founding member of the Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan Jammu, received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award.

S. Jagdeep Dhankhar, vice president, gave Langoo the honour at the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

In addition, according to the statement made here, Langoo has worked in different centres for more than 40 years as an Assistant Director for Folk Media at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India, which operates Asia’s biggest theatre.

He served as the music director for the well-known television programme “Gul Gulshan Gulfaam” and presented National Level Musical Productions sponsored by the Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, Jammu & Kashmir.

For the one-time Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award, presented as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), which celebrated 75 years of Indian independence, 75 performers above the age of 75 who had never before in their lives been given a National Honour were chosen.

Being from diverse States and Union Territories and representing a range of performing arts in India, these award recipients speak for the whole country. A monetary award of Rs. 1,000,000 as well as a Tamrapatra and Angavastram are included in the Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award.

For his efforts in preserving India’s vanishing Folk art and culture, H K Langoo, Chief Secretary of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan Jammu, has received recognition. His contributions to preserving traditional folk art and culture at the national level have earned him recognition from both the general public and traditional folk artists, according to the statement, in addition to his versatility as a performer, director of folk theatre, multi-talented artist, and writer.

Langoo is a winner of several major honours, and as such, its main emphasis is on promoting Duggar culture in different folk music programmes, including musical shows at the national level, it was said.
