Asif Bashir, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Squash Rackets Association, opened the District Budgam Squash Championship 2023 at the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Squash Complex at Gindun Stadium in Srinagar on July 24.
According to a release, the tournament is being run by the District Budgam Squash Rackets Association with support from the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.
At the opening ceremony, Chief Guest Asif Bashir reassured the Budgam district’s participating players that they would have access to all the resources they needed from the organisation.
He also thanked the Sports Council, and in particular Nuzhat Gul, the Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, for her tireless work to improve and expand sports and games in the state.
Guest of honour and Deputy Manager of Gindun Stadium Hilal Ahmad noted that the J&K Sports Council has made the Squash Complex available to the public, and in particular, young students, for very low fees.
