Briefly, a case FIR No. 73/2022 was filed at the Gandhi Nagar Jammu Police Station. Later, Mohd. Shareef Shah and a large amount of narco-terror money were arrested on the grounds that they were working for ISI and their agents in Pakistan to pay Jammu-based separatists to do things that hurt India’s sovereignty, integrity, and security.

Later, this case was given to SIA Jammu to be looked into further.

Upon investigation, it was found that Mohd. Sharief Chechi, Mohd Rafiq Najar, Farooq Ahmad Naikoo, and others are part of a well-organized drug ring based in Dubai that is sending drugs into India to make money for terrorist activities that threaten India’s sovereignty, integrity, and security. and also using banking methods to use drug money to pay for attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the probe, it was found that Mohd. Sharief Chechi’s method of operation was to get drugs from across the Line of Control (LOC) and from Pakistan (PoK). The money from these drugs was used to pay for terror.

On August 25, 2023, a SIA team led by Insp. Vikas Sharma caught Mohd. Sharief Chechi in Uri, Baramulla, based on technical observation and information from people.

At SIA Jammu, more research is being done on the cross-LOC operations of this narco-smuggling and terror-funding group, which has been caught moving guns, explosives, and drugs across the LOC.

Insp. Vikas Sharma, ASI Satish Parihar, and Sgct. Shatter Singh were on the SIA team that made the arrest.
