HMV/Load Carriers: Commuters are reminded to maintain lane discipline.
After evaluating the road and traffic conditions on NH-44, heavy vehicles (HMVs) will be permitted to travel between Jakheni (Udhampur) and Srinagar beginning at 1800 hours on October 21, 2023, if the weather and roads cooperate. Before releasing the HMVs, TCU Udhampur will coordinate with TCU Ramban. However, no heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will go from Qazigund to Jammu.
Movement of the SFs’ Convoy:
In light of the potential for traffic congestion on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW due to the small carriageway between Nashri and Banihal, the security forces are advised or requested not to ply against the advisory traffic plan. After verifying the status of NHW with TCU Ramban, they may begin plying from Jammu in the direction of Srinagar tomorrow.
Assuming clear skies and adequate road conditions The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumariroad will be open for traffic in both directions, from Srinagar to Kargil and back again. From Minamarg towards Srinagar, LMVS followed by HMVs are permitted between 07:30 and 11:30. Similarly. Between 1300 and 1700, LMVs and then HMVs will be allowed to travel from Sonamarg to Kargil. After the clock strikes midnight, no vehicles will be permitted.
The SFs Convoy bound for Kargil will depart Srinagar at 8:00 a.m. The SF convoy travelling between Drass and Srinager must arrange its routes so as not to interfere with civilian traffic.
Vehicle traffic on the Mughal Road, from Poonch to Shopian and back again, is expected to resume once the weather improves and the road is repaired. The hours of operation for these trucks leaving Behramgalla (Bufliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) are set at 0600 to 1800. After the designated time has passed, no vehicles will be admitted.
Travellers are urged to verify the NH-44’s condition with the appropriate authorities before setting off on their trip.
