8th October: Army Gujjar and Bakerwal Mela was held on Sunday in the Keegam region of the Kupwara district of north Kashmir with the intention of fostering a feeling of community and strengthening ties with the nomadic tribes.

Baker & Gujjar Mela was a collection of athletic and cultural performances by residents and schoolchildren. The Mela started off with a horse racing and then included cultural performances by kids from local schools.

Numerous entertaining games and activities were also planned for the occasion. Numerous booths from the horticulture and crafts departments were also put up, and the locals participated enthusiastically.

A medical camp and an informational awareness cell were also constructed during Mela.

Numerous well-known local figures, including DDC Natnussa Advocate Zahoor Ahmad, government representatives, and significant members of the Gujjar community, attended the mela. Mela had a footfall of around 1150 residents.

A sizable crowd that attended the mela was left with long-lasting memories of the occasion. The youngsters were given the chance to develop their latent abilities in a variety of activities and cultural programming, which was applauded by the school personnel and townspeople.
