According to the people, the electricity was cut off in response, and they have been without power since morning.

A resident said that immediately after the rally, the power went off.

Consumer protests against the Kashmir Power Distribution Company Limited are raging in Srinagar city. Protests have broken out all throughout Srinagar city as a result of the installation of Smart Metres, but the authorities remain steadfast and go on with the installation.

“People are willing to make a set monthly payment and cannot afford the hefty bills that these smart metres produce. A female demonstrator remarked, “Nobody is here to listen to us. We can’t pay our huge bills.

The protestors who shut down traffic in the area of the bus stop in Batamaloo said that the government takes joy in squeezing the life out of those who are living in poverty.

“There should be a balanced, impartial attitude. Wealthy people should pay according to their Smart metres, while those who are below the poverty level should not. They said that this was a cruel type of social discrimination. (KNT)
