Suryakumar Yadav, a batsman, also succeeded in keeping his berth in the team for the major competition, which will be captained by all-rounder Hardik Pandya in place of usual skipper Rohit Sharma.
While Rahul has been practising at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and getting ready to go to Sri Lanka for the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, he last played an ODI in March of this year after suffering a thigh injury earlier in the year during the IPL.
Sanju Samson, a reserve player in the Asia Cup, Tilak Varma, and Prasidh Krishna are among the omitted players due to Rahul’s inclusion in the team.
Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan are all included in the batting group, which is led by Rohit. Ishan Kishan offers a second keeping option. The team’s all-rounders will include Shardul Thakur, Hardik, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and them.
Jasprit Bumrah leads the bowling unit after making a successful comeback from a protracted injury layoff. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are the squad’s designated pacers, while Kuldeep Yadav is the only qualified spinner.
While September 5 is the cutoff date for countries to submit their World Cup rosters to the ICC, alterations may be made up to September 28 without ICC permission. On October 8, India’s World Cup campaign will get underway when they face Australia in Chennai.
