New Delhi, September 14 (IANS) According to the Supreme Court, it is inappropriate and undesirable for a school to employ exclusively temporary teachers.

A bench made up of Justices S.K. Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia said that this is a “matter of great concern” since excellence in educational institutions cannot be anticipated when teaching personnel is employed on a contract basis and moves in and out often.

When it was discovered that National Law University in Jodhpur only engaged teaching personnel under contracts, it expressed astonishment since the University Grants Commission Regulations provide that the percentage of contractual workers in higher education institutions should, in any event, not be more than 10%.

The highest court requested the law school to “remedy the position” after learning that the recently proposed revisions, which have not yet been put into effect, only called for 50% of permanent employees.

The National Law University, which is a pioneer in legal education, should only employ contractual instructors, according to the Supreme Court, is a cause for serious worry.

It did not agree with the University’s claim that it is not an assisted institution.

It said to the law university, “our would prefer an educational institution to correct the problem itself rather than our being called upon to remedy the position.

Additionally, the Supreme Court noted in its ruling that the Registrar is a contractual employee and that there is now no Vice Chancellor for the University.

On October 31, it published the subject for passing instructions.
