30 August, Anantnag: Mehbooba Mufti, president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has declared that unless the Pandits of Kashmir come home, the region would remain in a state of instability.

Kashmir has seen a great deal of suffering and difficulty over the last several decades in the state of J&K. Huge devastation has occurred in the area. Mehbooba Mufti told reporters in Anantnag, in south Kashmir, “many innocent people have lost their lives,” as reported by WKNN.

Our mothers, sisters, brothers, and daughters of the Kashmiri Pandit community have fled the Kashmir area since the advent of instability there, she remarked, and this is a big and collective loss for our society. The only way to make up for their departure, according to Mehbooba Mufti, is for them to return home and resume peaceful coexistence with their Muslim neighbours.

She further said that when the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, he worked to create conditions where KPs could return home. Mehbooba further said that “instability” would continue until KP returned to Kashmir.
