The Sports Department hosts a Huge Bicycle Rally

On July 15th, Srinagar hosted a megacycle race for males ages 14–19, put on by the Excise Department of Kashmir in conjunction with the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K.

The elimination of drugs from Srinagar was the primary motivation for this contest. Over four hundred fifty students from both public and private institutions in the Srinagar District took part in the event.

The race was signalled off by Deputy Excise Commissioner Tazium Mukhtar. She was accompanied by the Department of Youth and Sports Services’ field employees, including the Zonal Physical Education Officers and the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Srinagar Gh. Hassan Lone.

The race began at Bakhshi Stadium and made its way to the Botanical Garden in Srinagar through the TRC, Gupkar Road, Boulevard, and the Abdullah Bridge. All of the attendees had access to the on-site medical staff and refreshments.

In front of a large crowd of racers, the Excise and taxation officer for Central Kashmir, Shamsu-Duha, and the top officials of Excise Kashmir and officials of DYSSO, Srinagar, signed a promise against drugs at the end of the race. The winners of the cycling event were honoured by Shamsu-Duha and DYSSO with trophies, medals, and certificates of achievement.
