Sunday, June 18, in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, praised Sopore girl Mufferah Majeed for her efforts to build a solar boat, which he said showed her commitment to fighting climate change and promoting green development.
Sinha hailed Mufferah in his monthly show “Awaam Ki Awaaz,” which was carried by the Kashmir News Observer. He said that these small steps will add up to big changes on the way to sustainable growth.
He told the department of higher education and the district government in Baramulla to help her make her dream come true.
Mufferah is a college student and physics fan from the Sopore area of the Baramulla district in north Kashmir. He wants to build a boat that is driven by both solar panels and steam.
Since a year and a half ago, she has been working on the project.
In an earlier interview, Mufferah talked about how important renewable energy is. She also said that she had always wanted to use the power of green energy to make “something truly remarkable.”
