Sep. 31, Srinagar: At a ceremony on Tuesday at PHQ in Srinagar, R.R. Swain was appointed as the 17th Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir.

IGP V. K. Birdi, IGP (CIV/Hqrs) B.S. Tuti, A.K. Choudhary, ADGsP, S. J. M. Gillani, M.K. Sinha, Vijay Kumar, Director, Fire & Emergency Services, J&K, Alok Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Vikramjeet Singh, and other senior J&K Police officers were present on the occasion.

Senior officers welcomed R.R. Swain and gave him a guard of respect on the PHQ grounds upon his arrival. He examined the guard of honour as well.

Prior to assuming the role of DGP Jammu and Kashmir, R.R. Swain, an IPS officer from the 1991 batch, held a number of significant and vital posts in the Jammu and Police, including SDPO Kothi Bagh, SP Ramban, SP Kargil, SP Poonch, SSP Kathua, SSP Jammu, SSP Srinagar, AIG (P/W) PHQ, and DIG Vigilance. In November 2006, Shri Swain was deputed to the Indian government, where he held positions of great prestige. After joining the J&K Police in June 2020 as the chief of the CID branch, Shriin is now the DGP J&K.


J&K R.R. Swain conducted a meeting at PHQ with senior officers from PHQ and other wings right after assuming control of the DGP.

The DGP was informed by the HODs of various wings and top PHQ officials about the operations, functions, etc. of respective offices and wings.
