Found: a contraband material

Baramulla, 12 July: The police have apprehended a drug smuggler in Baramulla and seized illicit material from his hands, continuing their efforts to rid society of the threat of narcotics.

A police contingent at the Dachi checkpoint was headed by the Incharge BOP Dachi and supervised by SDPO Uri Shokat Ali. A Tata Mobile with the licence plate number JK05J-8004 was being driven by a single individual who attempted to escape the scene but was caught by Uri. It was discovered that he was in possession of 822 grammes of cannabis, 707 grammes of cannabis powder, 654 grammes of cannabis leaves, and 262 grammes of poppy straw. His name is Noor Mohd Mughal, and he lives in the Kundi Barjala neighbourhood of Kamalkote. He is now being held at the police station after his detention. The vehicle that was being utilised to commit the crime has also been taken into custody.

As a result, Uri Police have opened an investigation after registering a complaint under the applicable laws.

Anyone with knowledge about drug trafficking in their community is urged to speak out. Anyone caught selling drugs will face consequences. The police have assured the public that they would continue to crack down on drug dealers in an attempt to rid society of the “scourge and menace” that drugs pose.
