The Prime Minister noted the Iron Man’s 148th birthday by saying that the nation would be grateful to him for the rest of its existence.

This day, known as Sardar Patel’s Jayanti, is a time to reflect on the unyielding character, forward-thinking politics, and unwavering commitment to service that he displayed as he helped transform India into what it is today. As a country, we are still guided by his dedication to unity. To him we owe an eternal debt of gratitude,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.

Flowers will be presented to Patel’s 182-meter-tall monument at Kevadia, Gujarat, by the Prime Minister throughout the day.

The BSF and other state police will be marching in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade, which he will also see.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, has been celebrated annually on October 31 since 2014, and on that day, people from all walks of life join in a “Run for Unity” around the nation.

On the other side of the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah started the ‘Run For Unity’ at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in the nation’s capital.

In 2014, the federal government instituted the National Unity Day. On this day in 1950, India lost its unifier, Sardar Patel, who was responsible for bringing together the 562 autonomous princely republics that existed in India before independence. (ANI)
