Bandipora, June 26: A 21-year-old man from Bandipora was found in serious condition in the Jhelum river on Sunday. He died on Monday, a day after his sister jumped into the river to save him but died in the process.
Nuzhat Afzal, who was 18 years old, died in the river Jhelum while trying to save her brother Nazakat Ali. Officials now say that Nazakat also died on Monday.
On Sunday, Nuzhat jumped into the Jehlum river in a desperate attempt to save her brother, who was drowning. Despite the locals’ best efforts to save both of them, Nuzhat drowned.
Nazakat Ali was saved, but his state was very bad, so he was taken to a hospital in Srinagar right away. But, sadly, he lost his fight for life on Monday morning, an official told Greater Kashmir, making the family’s sadness even worse.
